My name is Chelsea Adamson and I graduated from Utah State University in 2001 with a dual bachelors degree in Elementary Education/Early Childhood Education with an emphasis in music and art. I am considered highly qualified and hold a Level 2 Teaching License from the state of Utah which certifies me to teach Pre-K through 8th grade. I am also ESL (English as a Second Language) certified. I am currently going into my 7th year in the field of education. I also taught 7 years of preschool on top of teaching in public schools. I have experience teaching 4 years in Kindergarten (which is my favorite), first grade, and third grade. This will be my second year at Freedom Preparatory Academy. I love teaching Kindergarten here and learning all I can and also contributing from my own experiences. I grew up on a farm in Cache Valley, where I taught school for three years before having my own children. I have been married to my amazing husband for 15 years and I have 4 awesome and beautiful daughters who are 12, 10, 8, and 5 years old. We moved here to Utah County four years ago when my husband became an Administrator of Education. My favorite thing to do is spend time with my family, teaching Kindergarten comes in a VERY close second. ;) I also love to run, read, cook, garden and I love animals. I look forward to a great year in Kindergarten and getting to know each of my students and their families. I am so excited to learn with them, grow with them, and help them gain a love of learning.

I am so excited for this school year at Freedom Prep Academy! I graduated from Brigham Young University-Idaho with a dual major in Early Childhood and Special Education. I recently moved from Idaho, where I taught special education preschool for children ages three to five years old with varying special needs such as Down's syndrome and Autism. I absolutely love teaching, and it is so rewarding to see children progress throughout the school year. Before obtaining my teaching degree, I received my cosmetology license. I worked in salons for five years before teaching. Some of my hobbies include swimming, watching movies, and reading books. I am anxious to meet all of my kindergarten students this year, and am looking forward to an enjoyable school year!

First grade is so fun and I cannot wait to get started on all the adventures we will have this year. I am from Oklahoma. I have played soccer my whole life and still love playing for fun. I like watching basketball and football. I love to have fun and be active. I love spending time with my husband and family!
Cherlynn Imes is happy to be back teaching first grade. She earned a dual bachelor degree in elementary education and early-childhood education from Brigham Young University. She has a level 2 teaching license from the State of Utah which allows her to teach Kindergarten to 8th grade.
This year we are going to have our "eyes" on the lookout for new discoveries. We have new spelling patterns to recognize, words to decode, math problems to solve, science experiments to do and new cultures to explore. I can hardly wait to get started.
I love spending time with my husband and three children. We love playing games together, and especially Ticket to Ride and Settlers of Catan. I also love reading. The last few years, I have noticed that I especially like non-fiction books about people's experiences. One of my favorites is An Invisible Thread by Laura Schroff. This book helped me realize that often we have no idea what influence one single act could have on another individual. The most important element is to love and care about others.

I am currently halfway through my Autism Studies Certificate (a minor taken after graduation- it wasn't offered back then). I focus on long-term successful outcomes and use the principles of Behavior Analysis that I learned there to help students gain self-control and learn to communicate in productive ways. After I graduated, I met my wonderful husband. I've spent the last several years alternating between taking care of my family and being an aide working with struggling students, ESL students, and twice gifted students. I have two wonderful young children, and my little family took care of my grandfather during his last year of life. I have learned much through my experiences about how challenges can be addressed to allow learning for any age or developmental level.
My first experience teaching was when I was a senior in high school and worked as an aide in a first grade class every other day for my senior project. I have loved watching those children grow from squirmy caterpillars into incredibly talented adults, and I'm excited to help more children grow and learn.
